The federation of unemployed trained Yoga instructors has threatened to intensify its agitation if the state government continues to ignore its demands. The federation claimed that its members refrained from observing Diwali this year in protest against the nonchalant attitude of State Government towards their demands. The members of the federation are even contemplating to take their agitation to Gairsain where the special session of assembly is slated to be held in the month of November.
The President of the federation Rakesh Semwal said that thousands of trained but unemployed Yoga instructors did not celebrated the festival of Diwali out of anguish and the fact that they are jobless. He said that the depression has reached to very high levels and the if the State Government fails to heed the demand of unemployed yoga graduates within a week then the federation would be forced to launch a massive agitation.
“We would even abstain from casting our votes in the ensuing assembly elections. From 2006, we seeking employment but the government have cold shouldered our demand. It is high time for the government to wale up to our demands and take measures to address our demands. The state Chief Minister, Harish Rawat has repeatedly stated that soon posts will be created for us in schools but now we want action not assurances,’’ he said.
These members of the federation are desperate to have their demand addressed now as they are aware that model code of the conduct would be imposed in the state with declaration of assembly polls in the state and the government would not take decision to create new posts of Yoga teachers in the government schools after its declaration. There are 22,000 unemployed yoga qualified instructors in the state. The Federation of Yoga instructors is demanding that the state government should appoint Yoga teachers in the all the government schools. It is also demanding that government should appoint them either in Ayurveda hospitals or as as yoga instructors in the tourism sector.
