The association of unemployed trained Yoga graduates has threatened to take extreme step of self-immolation if the State Government continues to ignore their demand of creation of Government jobs for them.
The members of the association assembled at the protest site near parade ground on Thursday and burned the effigy of State Education Minister, Mantri Prasad Naithani on the occasion. The agitated Yoga instructors threatened that if the state government fails to accept their demand then they would have no option but to immolate themselves.
One of a major demand of the Yoga graduates is that the state government should create post of Yoga teacher in the Government schools. The members were particularly agitated about the intention of State Government to appoint Yoga trainers form other States. The president of the association Rakesh Semwal said that the State is having about 18,000 trained Yoga graduates waiting for jobs. He said that they were assured by the state government that their demand would be placed before cabinet but nothing has happened till date.
