On the assurance given by the Secretary Education, D Senthil Pandian, the Federation of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)/Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualified unemployed youths backtracked from its declaration of locking the education directorate on Monday.

The federation had planned to force locking of the state education directorate at Nanoorkheda on the day however they were persuaded not to do it by Pandian.

A delegation of the federation was invited for talks by Pandian in the morning, in which he assured the agitators that the department is looking on to their demands.

The President of the Federation Manveer Rawat said that after the assurance of Pandian the federation decided to take back its plan of the locking the directorate.

He however said that the plan of the federation to hold a march to State Assembly on Tuesday is firmly on cards.

Rawat said that there are more than 30,000 B.Ed/ TET qualified candidates in the state who are waiting anxiously for the decision to increase these posts.

Some of the members of the federation are also sitting on a hunger strike at the agitation site for last 141 days.

The education department had recently advertised 1,200 posts of the primary teachers but the members of federation are demanding that the Government should increase the number of vacancies.
