The Principals of the private unaided schools of the State capital met on Monday and deliberated on forming a self regularity mechanism. Under the aegis of Private Unaided Schools Association (PUSA), representatives of about 200 private schools organised a meeting and formulated a broad advisory frame work for the private schools.
The Principal of Pestle Weed College Prem Kashyap said that in the meeting, with the views and opinions of all the heads of schools, an outline of the ‘Advisory Framework’ was made which covers almost all the aspects. However, the steering committee of the association decided that the final shape to the ‘Advisory Framework’ would be decided after discussions with Chief Minister.
One of the principal attending the meeting said that all the heads of the schools are unanimous in their opposition for any attempt to reduce their independence and not allow any sort of interference in their work.
It is pertinent to mention here that the State Government planned to introduce a ‘Fee control and disposal of complaints Bill’ to put some control on the functioning of the private schools. A prolonged agitation of parent associations and other social organisations prompted the Government to introduce such a bill however the Government move ignited a strong response from the heads of the private schools. The CM reportedly asked a delegation of these schools to come forward with a sort of self regulatory plan when it met him recently.
