Deepak Kripal, a young doctor from Banbasa in Uttarakhand's Kumaon region, has fulfilled his dream of writing a novel and having it published.

His book The Devil's Gate: An Impossible Journey was brought out recently by leadstart Publishing. The book is rather unique. Its theme is unusual and special. Plundered by humans of their habitats, animals take a drastic step when they decide to send a team to an invisible island. The island becomes visible only for a short time on the night of the full moon. legend has it that the island is inhabited by the demons. Animals wanted to negotiate a deal with the demons, convincing them to allow the animals inhabit the island. A majority of the animal community believes that tinkering with the other world could bring their wrath to the animals. The team is sent to the island nevertheless.

But can a deal with the dead be materializedIJ Are there really demons on the islandIJ Is there any conspiracy involvedIJ Will the animals be able to negotiate, or will survival remain their only question in the deadly islandIJ That remains a mystery for the readers to get to the heart of by reading the book.

Dr. Kripal told The Pioneer here that the thought of animals trying to negotiate a deal with demons to be able to stay on the island fascinated him. "The undertone  is that we (humans) have pushed animals so far that they are left with no choice but to take such a drastic and unimaginable step," said Kripal who is at the moment working in a hospital in Delhi.

Kripal was born in Banbasa, situated at the base of Kumaon hills, adjacent to the border of India with Nepal. He completed his school education from Kendriya Vidyalaya in 2001 from Banbasa.

Qualifying CPMT (Uttar Pradesh) in 2003, he joined GSVM (Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial) Medical College, Kanpur. After completing his MBBS and internship in 2009, he moved to Delhi.

Blogging, reading, interacting with people from diverse backgrounds, cooking and cricket are this 29 year old doctor's hobbies.

"Writing was my passion ever since college days and I used to write a lot of poems, and scripted some plays and skits during college fests. I started my blog in August 2012 and started sharing my writings with the readers.

It was a dream for me to write a book sometime in my life. I wasn't planning to write a book at this stage though, but when this idea struck my mind, I was compelled to pen it down since I found it as very unique and fascinating,"says Deepak.
