It is a matter of great pride that the State of Uttarakhand is organising the National Games of 2018. The State should start preparation for holding these games in a proper planned and scientific manner in right earnest, opined the Governor of Uttarakhand, KK Paul while addressing the concluding ceremony of 36 National Thaicondo championships which was here on Sunday.
Giving an example of long distance runner Manish Rawat, the Governor said that Rawat irrespective of all odds made it to the Olympics. He exhorted the participants to emulate the example set up by Manish Rawat.
Dr Paul said though Thaicondo is a foreign game but large number of youngsters of our country is showing interest in it. Emphasising the importance of sports, he said that the games play more effective role in making us physically and mentally strong than usage of the medicines. He called upon the participants to remain connected with sport.
The Governor distributed prizes to the winning teams and individual participants.
The organiser of the event Dr S Farooq welcomed the Governor on the occasion.
