U'khand second State to set up PMG portal

Uttarakhand has become the second Indian State after Odisha in setting up the State Project Monitoring Group (PMG) portal. The website of the State PMG was launched at the Secretariat here on Monday by the PMG (GoI) chairman and Additional Secretary at the Union Cabinet Secretariat, Anil Swaroop.

It is expected that this would help in increasing investment in the State. Various projects requiring forest clearance, land transfer and other approvals would now receive clearance online.

Speaking on the occasion, Swaroop said that 14 other States have also agreed to launch such portals. With this all hurdles would be removed online regarding proposed investments in State or Union Governments’ projects. People would no longer have to make the rounds of the offices with the online facility in place. All the matters related to the Central PMG portal would be sent to the departments concerned. The portal launched on Monday is dynamic state of the art, technology adoption for digitising the investment in the state. This intervention by PMG is for projects worth Rs 1,000 crore and above to be addressed at the Central Government PMG portal and for the smaller projects worth between Rs 100 crore and Rs 1,000 crore that will be addressed at the state level on state PMG portal. Till now, 150 projects worth Rs 5.3 lakh crore had received clearance online. The National Data Centre also collected information based on the PMG system. This paperless system functions online, with the investor concerned being informed about the status of the proposal.

Principal secretary S Raju, secretary Umakant Panwar, additional secretary S Ravishankar and representatives of the industrial sector were also among those present on the occasion.
