Even as Uttarakhand police denies receiving any written or verbal alert from the neighbouring Uttar Pradesh for tightening security following the proposed 84-Kosi Parikrama in Ayodhya, an alert has been sounded in the hilly State as preventive measure to keep any controversial situation at a bay.
Police have been asked to keep a strict vigil in sensitive locations across the State and pay special attentions to three districts, including the capital city Dehradun. Director General of Police (DGP) Satyavrata said, “No alert has been received from Uttar Pradesh. Keeping in view sensitivity of the matter, an alert has been sounded across the state. District Police chiefs have been asked to take all possible steps to tighten security.”
He further added that three districts, including Udham Singh Nagar, Dehradun and Haridwar were communally sensitive. The police officers have been directed to intensify the patrolling in their respective districts and response immediately in case of receiving information about any controversial situation. The DGP said that security and vigil have also been tightened in other districts of the State.
Senior cops have been asked to monitor the situation personally in the sensitive areas. He has also directed the police chiefs to carry out surprise inspections during night in their areas. In the meantime, intelligence agencies have also increased their movement across the State.
