The Deputy Chairman of Uttarakhand Film Development Council, Hemant Pandey has said that Uttarakhand needs Uttarakhandi cinema and efforts aimed at dividing it into Garhwali and Kumaoni cinema should be discouraged. In a statement, the veteran film actor said that he does not talk about Garhwali or Kumaoni cinema and all he is concerned about is Uttarakhand cinema. Expressing his resolve to work for development of the cinema in the state he said that people committed towards work should not get affected by adverse conditions. On the proposed meeting of the council, he said that he has held two meetings with the State chief minister on the issue and the meeting of the council would soon be organised.
Refuting the rumours going round that some change is on anvil in the council, Pandey said that he has full faith that the State Government will cooperate with the council.
