lawyers in the Uttarakhand High Court held a meet here on Tuesday to discuss the current political situation in the State. The attending lawyers unanimously agreed that the political scenario elicits focus on the attitude of political parties regarding democracy, the nation and society.
The mandate of the people and the institution of democracy has been made into a means for earning money and pursuing personal interests. Such political parties have turned politics into an open field for criminal elements, illegal miners and resin tappers among other persons involved in loot of natural resources, opined the lawyers.
They further stated that such political parties had created an atmosphere of deep disappointment among the common public. In the past few days, unconstitutional and illegal acts have been committed by different sides in the name of the constitution and law of the land.
The advocates attending the meeting also acknowledged the need for forming a forum which will take appropriate ideas to the public on issues relating to the society, nation and State.
The meeting was convened by JC Karnatak with Navnish Negi as the coordinator. Mahendra Pal, Tribhuwan Singh Fartyal, Sunder Singh Bhandari, Durga Mehta and others were present in the meeting.
