Uttarakhand education department to rope in guest teachers who will be deputed in absence of regular teachers at block levels. The teachers will be recruited at block levels and they will be deployed in the local schools to avoid inconvenience to the students, said State school education (secondary education) director RK Kunwar while talking to The Pioneer on Wednesday. “Our priority is to provide quality education to the students enrolled in government-run schools of the state,” he added.
There are around 25, 000 lT teachers and lecturers in Government-run high schools and Government-run inter colleges in the State. Women account for around 20 to 30 per cent of such teachers, he said.
It has been observed that around 1,000 Government school teachers are on leave on daily basis. The level of education is being adversely affected by this trend of taking leaves. Teachers go on leaves under two years’ child care leave, 365 days’ medical leave, 180 days’ maternity leave and the like. The education department cannot prevent the teachers from availing such leaves they are entitled to. However, to manage things, the State Government has recently released Government
order, making pool of guest teachers at block levels, said director Kunwar. He said that lT teachers will be given Rs125 per class while the lecturers would receive Rs150 per class. They would get maximum salary around Rs15, 000 per month. In a day, they may take three or four classes. The selected teachers would be assigned schools locally, he informed.
There are around 67, 000 BEd/TET qualified persons in the state. The department would soon release application form at district levels. The recruitment of teachers will be done locally. The selected teachers would be deployed in schools from August this year, he added.
