U'khand a scam State: Bhuwan Khanduri

Published on:

Accusing the Congress-led State Government of abetting rampant corruption in the State, Garhwal MP and former Chief Minister Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri opined that Uttarakhand has become a ‘scam State’ with corruption being orchestrated blatantly. Stating that the Congress-led state government is going downhill, Khanduri exhorted the Bharatiya Janata Party cadre to prepare for bringing it down on the ground in the 2017 Vidhan Sabha elections. The former CM said this while heading the party’s Pardafash campaign against the Congress in lalkuan on Friday.

As scheduled, Khanduri reached lalkuan directly by train from Delhi on Friday to address a large number of people who had gathered to listen to the Garhwal MP in the Pardafash rally.  lambasting the Congress-led state government for exacerbating corruption in the state, Khanduri said that crime is at an all time high as in the case of illegal mining which is being carried out openly on an alarmingly large scale. He said, “Uttarakhand has been turned into a ‘scam state’ while the chief minister Harish Rawat is occupied in planning further corrupt activities. There is little left to expose considering the open manner in which corruption is being orchestrated. Even after dubious dealings were exposed by the media, the chief minister has continued to maintain that he is clean. One feels ashamed seeing the dirt of corruption spreading across the state,” he opined. Referring to the party cadre, Khanduri exhorted them to prepare for the 2017 Vidhan Sabha elections and work on informing the public about the “anti-people” policies of the state government.

Expressing his views on the occasion, Haridwar MlA and former state minister Madan Kaushik alleged that the state government had reached new heights in corruption orchestrated in the past two and a half years for facilitating illegal mining, irregularities in excise and indiscriminate exploitation of the state’s resources. Former Congress MlA now in the BJP, Umesh Sharma ‘Kau’ also expressed his views exhorting the public to bring an end to the corrupted state of affairs. Senior BJP leaders including Bachi Singh Rawat, former cabinet minister Pradeep Kaushik along with party office bearers were also among those present on the occasion.
