UKD's Panwar faction to undertake Kshama Yatra

Published on:

After failing to regain any lost ground in the recently concluded Assembly elections, bypolls and Panchayat election, the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal faction headed by Trivendra Singh Panwar has decided to undertake a Kshama Yatra across the State to win back the trust of the public. This decision was taken at a party meeting chaired by Panwar.

It was decided in the meeting that the Kshama Yatra will be conducted in 20 stages across the State. Each stage of the campaign will last a week which will be followed by a gap of 10 days before the next stage of the Yatra.

The UKD (P) has divided the State into 21 organisational districts and as part of its campaign to regain the trust of the public, the party leaders and workers will “seek forgiveness for past mistakes” from the people of Uttarakhand at the district, city, block and locality levels. The party workers will exhort the public to connect with the UKD to revitalize the party in the interests of the State.

Party leaders said in the meeting that the UKD had played a major role in the Statehood movement but the successive State governments headed by the Congress and the BJP had done little more than defrauding the State and its people which has caused a deterioration in the condition of the people in Uttarakhand.

Party leaders also said that a movement will be started soon against the illegal mining, corruption and other anomalies being perpetuated in connivance with public servants.

It was also said in the meeting that instead of the money being demanded as green bonus for the State, pressure should be exerted on the Central Government to restore the provision of the traditional and other rights accorded to residents of the mountainous regions of Uttarakhand before 1971.
