UKD wants Int'l Sanskrit Conference called-off

The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal faction headed by Trivendra Singh Panwar has demanded that the International Sanskrit Conference be cancelled to prevent wastage of resources at a time when the State is struggling to recover from the effects of the June 2013 disaster. According to the party media in-charge Manmohan lakhera, spending about Rs one crore on the event is a waste or resources considering that there is probability of only 240 students participating in this conference.

He said, “Invalid appointments are being made at the Sanskrit University Haridwar for quite some time now with rules of the University Grants Commission rules being ignored to grant appointments to acquaintances.

The Government is hesitating to order an inquiry into the alleged invalid appointments. The order for inquiry against the university vice-chancellor Mahavir Agrawal has also been put on the back burner and he has been given full freedom to function as he wishes. An inquiry is also being demanded into the Rs2.5 crore advance payment to the executing agency for construction of the university building.” lakhera further alleged that though more than half of the universities in Uttarakhand were without registrars, those selected for these posts were being rejected by the State authorities.

The State government, bureaucrats and departmental officials are preventing honest and hardworking professionals from working on such posts in the State, he added.
