Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) president Diwakar Bhatt said that his party would stage rallies across the Haridwar district from September 26 to protest against the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Act.
He said that his party is for abrogation of the caste-based reservation. “The criteria for reservation should be the economic condition, irrespective of castes,” he said while addressing the media persons here on Monday. It is clear that the regional party of the State would make the caste-based reservation the principal theme during its campaigning for the 2019 general election.
Taking pot-shots at the BJP-helmed Government at the Centre and in the State, Bhatt said that both have failed the people in fulfilling the promises they dished out to the people during the campaigning. “The people voted them to power in the Centre and the State with huge expectations. But it seems that they have trampled the mandate,” he said. He, further, said that UKD would take rallies in all the 70 constituencies of the State from October 1 to mobilise the people on the issue of the BJP’s unfulfilled promises. We would remind the people of how the saffron party has taken them for a ride,” he said.
