The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (Airy) has decided to gherao the Vidhan Sabha on Friday to protest against the State Government’s policies detrimental to the welfare of Uttarakhand and its people. The party head Pushpesh Tripathi will be leading protesters rallying to the assembly. The Congress-led State Government is focusing more on announcements than on executing developmental works, said the party patron BD Raturi.
Addressing the media at the Press club here on Wednesday, Raturi lambasted the Congress-led State Government stating that its function had become limited mainly to the making of announcements. Instead of working towards achieving the desired level of progress in Uttarakhand, successive State governments of the two national parties-BJP and Congress have encouraged corruption in the State.
In contrast to developmental claims, there is no concrete achievement to substantiate such claims concrete outcomes of developmental efforts. While UKD remains committed to establishment of State capital in Gairsain, the present State government doesn’t appear serious on this issue even as both the national parties continue to dupe the public.Agriculture was the main trade at the time of Uttarakhand’s creation but 15 years later the farmers are in dire straits.
Apart from deterioration of agriculture, the UKD has also lambasted the State Government for syndicates taking control over trades in various sectors including , mining, land dealing, liquor sale, education and work allocation. The party is also demanding an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the allocation of land by the State government to people from outside the state.
The allocation of old Delhi bus depot land to GTM group and land in Nainisar to the Jindal group are recent examples of such dubious land deals, allege the UKD leaders. The various scams in disaster related works and other corrupt machinations should be investigated.
