In a significant step towards meeting its own power requirement and subsequently reducing dependence on the central pool or other states, Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam limited (UJVNl) has achieved record power generation at Haridwar based Pathri power house in July 2017.

UJVNl managing director SN Verma said that new record in power generation in July is considered important for the department. The 20.40 megawatt Pathri hydropower project at Upper Canal Road in Haridwar district has achieved record power generation in July since it was set up.

In July this year, this unit has generated power of 12.388 million units. In the past, in July 2015, this power unit had generated power of 12.160 million units. Verma said that this had been made possible by the effective monitoring and efficient operation and maintenance of power houses. He attributed the achievement to the staff of UJVNl.
