UFDC staff body stages stir

The Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation (UFDC) employees association staged a demonstration at the corporation headquarters to protest against corruption and other issues yet to be resolved.

Addressing the protest gathering, the association’s state head Santosh Rawat said that the administration had displayed its negative attitude by not honouring the tripartite agreement reached on September 10 last year.

He said, “The division of seats has already been done for promotion of class four workers to scaler cadre but the promotion was not facilitated in the scaler cadre. There is glaring contradiction  in the policy and intention of the management regarding the organisational structure which has led to creation of ad hoc posts. Additionally, the management dishonoured the agreement reached earlier by appointing an outsourced assistant account on daily wage instead of conducting direct recruitment  to the post of assistant accountant. They did not hold tripartite talks in order to resolve the pay anomalies in various cadre. Our association is serious on such issues including the need for stopping unnecessary expenditures being made in the forest corporation but the management appears to be uninterested,” said Rawat.

He warned that the union will not hesitate to undertake an agitation for a long period if their demands are not met. The association general secretary lalit Sharma said that on September 10, 2015, the UFDC chairman Harish Dhami had chaired a meeting which saw tripartite talks involving the management and association.

He said, “At that meeting, an agreement had been reached on our 15-point demands with a decision also being reached for swift redressal of the issues but no action has been taken so far. The resulting frustration among employees due to the stance of the administration has forced the association to protest,” he added.

The association’s  regional head JP Bahukhandi accused the management of providing financial assistance to non-political associations in a dubious manner which is causing the corporation to weaken.
