The Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) on Tuesday approved a power tariff hike of 4.99 per cent for 2016-17. Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission chairman Subash Kumar said that 4.99 per cent hike in power tariff for 2016-17 has been declared.
Uttarakhand Power Corporation limited (UPCl) had earlier sent a proposal of an overall 25 per cent power tariff hike to meet the power purchase costs and other expenses. UPCl had projected revenue gap of Rs 1220 crore against which UERC allowed revenue gap of Rs 249 crore only.
For domestic consumers, the commission has increased the rates by 26 paisa for average billing rate while 28 paisa for non -domestic customers, he added.
