U’khand Govt failed to fight dengue: Pritam

Published on:

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president, Pritam Singh has said that the state government has failed miserably in controlling dengue which has assumed colossal proportion in Dehradun and other parts of the state.

Addressing media persons at Rajiv Bhawan, the headquarters of state Congress on Saturday, the PCC president said that though the health portfolio is headed by none other than Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat himself the health sector in Uttarakhand is in pathetic condition. He said that the state government don’t even have the data of dengue patients in the state. “ Those getting their treatments and investigations done at the government hospitals are included in the government data of the disease but the department has no knowledge about those who are getting treated in private hospitals and clinics,’’ he said. The PCC President added that the health department don’t have any plan to tackle the menace of the disease and the way the department is functioning it appears as if the department is headless.

Singh also blamed the state government for adopting an apathetic attitude towards the natural disasters.

“The state witnessed natural disasters in Uttarkashi, Pauri, Tehri, Pithoragarh and Chamoli recently but the state government is appearing unconcerned.  The disaster victims are being left to fend for themselves, the situation of supply of food grain in affected areas is pathetic and the road connection with many areas is not restored.

In Uttarkashi no arrangement to procure apple and other produce from disaster affected locals is made,’’ the PCC president claimed. Continuing his diatribe on the government, the Congress leader claimed that the minster in charges and other senior officers are nowhere to be seen in the disaster affected areas.

Illegal mining rampant in U’khand

The PCC President claimed that mining mafia are ruling roost in the BJP government which boasts to have zero tolerance for corruption.

He said that in the Juddo- Hatiyari hydro power project currently in construction phase in Kalsi area of Dehradun district, the mining mafia are illegally engaged in mining activities in Vyasi and Juddo rivers by using Pokeland machines and they are supplying building material to Ms Gammon India Limited which is the company responsible for construction of project.

Singh claimed that so far three inquires have been set up in the case and all of them have confirmed illegal mining in the area. The Congress President alleged that local Tehsildar is involved in the illegal mining activity and political protection to the business is being provided.
