The infighting amongst Congress party workers has once again surfaced when two factions launched their protest at different places in connection to the recent detention of Rahul Gandhi while his attempt to meet with the family of the army veteran who committed suicide allegedly over an insufficient pension. At Chandracharya chownk Congress Mahanagar Committee launched the protest and in Jwalapur police station veteran Congress leader Ambrish kumar burnt effigy of PM Modi and gave symbolic arrest of 100 party workers.
Speaking to The Pioneer, senior Congress leader Ambrish Kumar said, “From the very beginning, the attitude of BJP government and his head had been proved as that of RSS Pracharak.
Modi is implementing the agenda of RSS which is to convert democracy to dictatorship.” The act of checking the liberty of a person when he speaks against the tyranny is nothing short of Fascism. He further alleged that BJP was trying to make it communal Hindustan and “we shall oppose this policy tooth and nail even if we put behind bars.”
The President of Mahanagar Congress Committee Anshul Shrikunj said,
“The OROP program announced last year was to ensure equalize pensions for all servicemen who served at the same rank and for the same amount of time. The policy is yet to be correctly implemented, say army officers and they have been deceived which is not fair.” He said the present government at the centre was continuously deceiving the army personnel which the party strongly condemned. He said the Delhi police must apologise for detaining Congress party Vice President Rahul Gandhi.
