State agriculture minister Subodh Uniyal made surprise inspection at Niranjanpur Sabzi Mandi in Dehradun on Tuesday and ordered suspension of two officials- secretary Digvijay Singh Dev and inspector Santosh Kumar, for the anomalies prevailing in the mandi.
During the inspection, he inspected the guest house and reprimanded the officials for failing to answer his queries. During the inspection, he found to his anger that the members of the committee that was dissolved were staying in the guest house meant to be demolished. When he sought answer from the secretary on the matter the official is learnt to have failed to give a satisfying answer.
He also found that the mandi’s toilet was being used as a storage place for fruits. He sounded displeased over the encroachment with makeshift shops found blocking the entrance of the mandi.
He asked why the traders were being allowed to pitch shops on the roads outside after being allotted shops inside the campus.
He asked the officials concerned to have such makeshift shops encroaching the road immediately demolished.
Notably, during the inspection of the Rishikesh Mandi Samiti a few days ago, the minister had come across several anomalies. He subsequently had written a letter to the MD, agriculture produce marketing board, asking him to appear along with all the details before him on May 4.
