Two persons were reported to have been killed and 20 others were seriously injured when the bus they were travelling in fell off the road into a 200-metre deep gorge at Sahtoli on the Nandprayag Ghat Motor Road in Chamoli district on Tuesday morning.
The accident occurred at around 8.30 am when driver lost the control of the bus. The deceased have been identified as Kumatoli resident Prem Singh and Ustoli resident Gambhir Singh. The bus was being drive to Gopeshwar from Kurud when it met with the accident.
It is pertinent to mention here that the number of accidents and frequency of mishaps have continued to rise in Uttarakhand, especially in the mountainous regions despite various measures being undertaken or planned by the State Government.
