Two cops suspended for venting ire over pay anomalies

The police brass has started clamping down heavily by suspending two of the police personnel who were venting their anger over pay anomaly  through the social networking sites under the guise of  'Mission Mahavrat'.

Two of the dissenters have been suspended on Thursday and more would face the same if the personnel in uniform continue to articulate resentment through the social networking sites while flouting the norm of discipline in the force, said a senior police officer soon after the suspension move.

It is learnt that a section of the police personnel are demanding  hike in grade pay and allowances, allowance against gazetted holiday, full salary during training, giving cash against leave, special allowances for civil and armed police forces and hike in nutrition allowances among others.Notably, the two police personnel against whom the action was taken are from Chamoli district. About two years ago, similar things happened in the force known as 'Mission Akrosh' whose aftermath saw termination of two and suspension of   three.

Police department insiders say that things are becoming difficult for the top brass as many in the force are empathising clandestinely with those continuing with the networking site fight against the nonchalance of the department regarding their long- pending demands.

One of them said that the agitated personnel had written to the chief minister twice in September and November last year, asking him to clear things by January 5.

The State additional director general of police (law and order) Ashok Kumar, however, rubbished such apprehensions of the dissent spreading its base in the force. “ Nothing of this kind would happen in the force as it is a disciplined force,” he said.

Meanwhile, senior cops  got into a huddle with the district police chiefs on Thursday and directed them to ensure that discipline is maintained in the force in their respective districts at any cost.
