Stamping its foot down on the menace of the land frauds, Dehradun police have arrested two persons on Wednesday, charging the duo of duping the complainant of around `8.78 lakhs regarding sale of a piece of land by forged documents. The accused have been identified as Sushil Kumar, resident of Haridwar, and Vijendra Singh Rawat, resident of Ajabpur Kala, Dehradun.
IG Garhwal Range Sanjay Kumar Gunjyal announced reward of `5,000 to the team of Patelnagar and SIT, for cracking the case. It is learnt that Jaidev Negi, resident of Pauri, had registered a complaint at SIT. In the written complaint, Negi stated that he had purchased a piece of land (188.19 square metres) at Mauja Sheesham Bara, from Sushil Kumar, resident of Haridwar in June 2012.
later, he had applied for mutation of the land in the department concerned. But the mutation of the land could not have been done because of the land documents being found forged, he said in his complaint.
He said he had later come to know that Sushil Kumar had sold another person’s land after making forged land documents.
According to the complainant, Sushil Kumar together with his accomplice Vijendra Singh Rawat had hatched the plan to dupe him of Rs 8.78 lakh in lieu of the spurious land deal. Sitting up after the complaint was received, SIT members swung into action and verified the complaint. It was found correct. Following the direction of IG Gunjyal, a case under sections 420/467/468/471 of IPC was registered against accused Sushil Kumar and Vinejdra Singh Rawat in Patelngar police station. Acting on a tip off, police arrested both the accused on Wednesday.
