The revenue police have arrested two of the accused of the case of the murder of villager Prem Singh in lansdowne Tehsil from Sandhikhal Bazaar on Monday while the gram pradhan, another of the accused, is absconding. Revenue police sources said that the two accused arrested on Monday are the father and brother of the accused gram pradhan and they have been brought to lansdowne and produced in the Judicial Magistrate court where the duo was sent to 14 day’s judicial custody.
Notably, Prem Singh had been murdered as he had raised questions over some irregularities involving construction of toilets in leveetha village under lansdowne Tehsil on December 6 allegedly by the gram pradhan and his relatives.
The revenue police had subsequently registered a case against the gram pradhan Mahipal, his father Aanad and brother Deepak on the report lodged by the son of deceased Mahendra two days after the murder on December 8. The revenue police sources said that based on tip- off, two of the accused was arrested when they were trying to flee from the area. They further said that the fugitive gram pradhan would be arrested soon. Police sayd that this is the major achievement from their part. and no laxity will be tolerated.
Observers say that the revenue police dithering on lodging the case for two long days since the horrific murder of an elderly villager had given the accused enough time to flee.
The sub-divisional magistrate lansdowne has, however, constituted an inquiry into the irregularities involving the construction of toilets in the village questioning which the elderly villager had lost his life.
