While the newly-elected head of the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal Kashi Singh Airy spent time in the party head office on Tuesday, the former chief Trivendra Singh Panwar and his supporters continued to stage protest in the office accusing the Airy faction of usurping the chair of the party chief. Airy said he will take measures to strengthen the party by uniting the various factions formed during the tenure of Panwar as the party chief.
It will be recalled that the Airy faction had called a two-day convention of the party which resulted in him being elected the new party chief on Monday though Panwar alleged that the convention and election were both invalid.
However, when Airy along with his followers reached the party head office the few supporters of Panwar were helpless though they had an altercation with Airy supporters. Panwar sat on a dharna on Monday against the developments which he alleges are backed by the State Government with an aim to destroy the UKD.
On Tuesday, while Airy and other party members went about their work in the head office, Panwar with a handful of supporters continued to stage protest at the party head office. He alleged that the convention was invalid because only the party chief is authorised to call such a meet.
Meanwhile, Airy said that the new executive committee will be formed within a month and effective measures will be taken to improve the position of the party which had suffered much due to the “autocratic attitude and selfish actions” of Panwar.
Measures will be taken to bring back leaders and members who had formed different factions during the tenure of Panwar as the party chief.
