The colleges affiliated to the Technical University would get linked to Sri Dev Suman University in the next educational session.
The decision was taken at a meeting held in the presence of the vice-chancellors of both the universities and the State higher education secretary after SDSU VC suggested so, citing resource crunch the university has been facing as an obstacle to fixing things. Meanwhile, preparations are on in Sri Dev Suman University to have these colleges affiliated to it.
Notably, 28 self- financed B Ed colleges, nine government colleges, 74 private institutional colleges and 20 evening colleges have so far been affiliated to Sri Dev Suman University. Now, the colleges affiliated to Technical University would add to the list. A meeting was held on Saturday to decide things. Aside from the higher education secretary R K Sudhanshu SDSU vice-chancellor Dr U S Rawat and Technical University vice-chancellor V K Jain were present.
Dr Rawat said that the University, which has over 130 colleges affiliated to it, has been facing problems due to shortage of resources. He said that it had become a challenge for the university to hold semester, BEd and private examinations with staff strength of just 40. Under these circumstances, if new colleges are to be affiliated, things would be tougher.
He suggested the affiliations of the Technical University colleges be made from the next session. The decision to affiliate the colleges under Technical University to Sri Dev Suman University from the academic session 2015 was taken in compliance with Dr Rawat’s suggestion. It was decided that the affiliation would be made from 2015 session.
