Vinod Garg, a foreman in the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation, Roorkee, Haridwar, was caught taking a bribe of Rs5,000 from one Ashraf Jamal Qureshi, a fish supplier and resident of Dehradun, by the vigilance team, Dehradun sector, on Saturday. In his written complaint, Qureshi stated that his fish-laden truck met with an accident in Mangalore and a case was registered in the police station concerned. To free the truck from the court, he needed NOC from transport department. He approached the foreman Vinod Garg but Garg demanded Rs5, 00 for the same.
SP Vigilance, VKS Karki formed the teams headed by Deputy SP Jaya Baluni and inspector Jaimal Singh Negi to verify the complaint. The State Government nodding, inspector Negi was asked to trap the accused.
