The one-year long training of the newly selected women Sub Inspectors of Uttarakhand Police would start from November 15. The state Director General of Police (DGP), M A Ganapathy said that the medical examination of the selected women SI would be organised on November 11 and 12 in Dehradun and thereafter these candidates would head for the training at Police Training College (PTC), Narendranagar in Tehri district. The selected candidates would have to report at Dehradun police lines at 9 AM.
The recruitment examination for 142 posts of women SI in Uttarakhand police was held on August 21 this year. However prior to the examination some women constables went to the Uttarakhand High Court (HC) and demanded that the examination should be cancelled as the promotional avenues of women constables and head constables would be affected by it. Acting on the plea of Roshni Bhandari and others the court directed the government to conduct recruitment for 54 posts only. The court withheld recruitment on 96 posts.
