Trainee teachers stage rally

Irked over alleged negligent attitude of the State Government towards their pending demands, TET Trainee Teacher Union members on Tuesday staged a rally in the city raising anti- government slogans.

The protesters expressed anguish over recent statement of School Education (basic) director Anil Kumar Negi about TET Trainee teachers undergoing six month training programme before being appointed in Government schools and said that they have already undergone around 10 months departmental training. As per National Council for Teacher Education (NCET) notification, TET trainee teachers should be given six months teachers’ training after their appointment in Government schools and this training will be counted as under service training.

Hundreds of union members assembled at Parade Ground and took out a rally up to education directorate raising slogans against the state government for delaying government order of their appointments in the government primary schools. later they met State Cabinet Minister Amrita Rawat at her residence and informed about their grievances.

Union member Anup Jadli said that in the name of teachers’ training, the Education Department had deployed 2,253 teachers in Government schools in inaccessible areas of Uttarakhand in September 2012 with the assurance of Rs7300 as stipend. But most of the teachers have not been given stipend by the department so far.

According to him, they are not going to attend any training organised by the department unless they are appointed in Government schools. They are demanding issuance of GO for their appointment in Government schools and release of stipend to the teachers without delay. The union will intensify its protest unless demands are met,” he warned.
