The trainee police officers from Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh who are now in Uttarakhand under Bharat Darshan Programme are all praise for the award ‘policeman of the month’ being given to the police personnel in Garhwal Range in recognition of their works, taking the daunting challenges head-on. A trainee Hemanta Saikia said that such awards motivate the police personnel to give their best. The trainees also appreciated CCTV cameras being installed in many places across Dehradun, helping police to crack the crimes.

Saikia further said that the concept of community policing had caught his imagination. “I feel that community policing can   make policing more effective.  Uttarakhand is a peaceful state unlike Assam. But I think that introduction of community policing in Assam would help the northeastern state combat the crimes better,” he said. He said that they had an interactive session with DGP MA Ganapathy on Wednesday at Police Headquarters during which various issues of making police more effective cropped up.

Runa Neog, a lady trainee, also praised the policeman of the month award, saying that it boosted the morale of the policeman, inspiring them to do more for the people.  .

IG (training) PVK Prasad who interacted with the trainees said that twenty eight police officers, including seven women police officers, of the rank of deputy superintendent of police from Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, are now touring the state under Bharat Darshan Programme. Out of 28, six trainees are having engineering back ground, two are from medical background and 20 are post graduates, he said.

Trainees visited IMA campus on Thursday morning. They would visit intelligence headquarters and police control rooms in Dehradun, Mussoorie, Rishikesh and Haridwar.
