Trained Yoga experts demand Government jobs

Published on:

Feeling left out in the lurch by the Uttarakhand Government, the trained Yoga instructors have decided to launch a State wide agitation to pressurise the State Government for their demand of Government jobs.

On Friday these instructors under the banner of Yoga qualified unemployed federation (YQUF) would undertake a march to the State secretariat to highlight their plights.

The President of the Federation, Rakesh Semwal said that the state government is claiming to promote Yoga in the Uttarakhand but the fact remains that more than 22000 trained Yoga instructors are jobless in the state. He said that the state government should create a post of Yoga teacher in the all the schools and appoint trained Yoga instructors in them. The Federation is also demanding that Yoga instructors should be appointed in the Ayruvedic hospitals and in the tourism department.   The members of the federation are annoyed at the fact that though the education department had introduced yoga as a separate subject for Class VI to XII of government schools from the year 2010, no separate posts for yoga teachers have been announced till date.

“We have decided to hold state wide agitation in support of our demands. This time the agitation will continue till we are given the confirmation in writing” said  Semwal.
