In view of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s scheduled public rally at Parade Ground on Sunday, the Dehradun police have made elaborate parking arrangements in the city and traffic on several routes will be diverted to avoid congestion on roads around the Parade Ground, said Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Rautela on Friday.
Rautel said, “In order to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the State capital on Sunday, adequate traffic police will be deployed at important places in the city and traffic on some routes leading to Parade Ground will also be diverted.”
Dehradun SP, Traffic, Pradeep Rai said that heavy vehicles coming from Haridwar, Roorkee, Saharanpur and Doiwala towards Parade Ground will follow the Rispana-Dharampur Chowk- Gurudwara Chowk route to reach the parking at Bannu School while light vehicle will follow the Rispana-Dharampur-Race Course Chowk- Court Road route to the parking at the old district jail compound.
Heavy vehicles coming from Saharanpur Road towards Parade Ground will take the route from ISBT via Kargi Chowk, Old Chowki Bypass, Dharampur Chowk, Gurudwara Chowk to reach Bannu School parking while light vehicles will follow the route from ISBT via Kargi Chowk, Old Chowki bypass, Dharampur Chowk, Race Course, Prince Chowk and Gandhi Road to reach the old bus station parking.
The vehicles bringing people to the rally will be parked at Bannu School, Doon Valley School, Race Course Gurudwara ground, Guru Ram Rai Ground Rest Camp Road, Race Course and Guru Nanak Public School.
Vehicles coming from Sahaspur will follow the route from Ballupur via Kaulagarh and Survey of India Gate (Hathibarkala) to the parking at Survey of India stadium and community hall ground.
Heavy vehicles coming from Mussoorie will be parked at Secretariat ground while light vehicles will be parked at MDDA parking near Clock Tower. Heavy vehicles coming from Raipur will be parked at Brightland School parking while light vehicles will be parked at Madhoram Ground.
The vehicles coming to the city will also be parked at MDDA complex parking, old MDDA parking, Court premises, Municipal Corporation compound, Mangla Devi Inter College, Guru Ram Rai School, EC Road, Pavilion Ground and Forest Rangers College ground. The route of bus services between Cantt and Rajpur, Clement Town and Rajpur and Raipur and Maldevta has been altered. The routes of Vikram tempos plying on route numbers 2, 3, 5 and 8 have also been changed, he added.
