In view of President Pranab Mukherjee’s Uttarakhand visit on Monday, Dehradun police has drafted traffic plan for stretches running from GTC helipad to Governor’s House and from Governor’s House to Vidhan Sabha. The vehicles meant for the VVIPs (President, Governor, Speaker and Chief Minister) would be parked inside the Assembly campus. However, the parking arrangements for other persons, including cabinet minister, administrative officers, police and media have been made outside the Assembly premises. They would be parked at Defence Colony (MCD office), as per the traffic plan formulated. No procession would be allowed in the city on Monday. Adequate policemen would be deputed at crossings to keep traffic free from congestion in the city, said Dehradun SSP Pushpak Jyoti.
Dehradun CO Traffic Arun Kumar Pandey said that barricades would be erected at various places in the city while CCTVs would be used to monitor traffic movement and activities at major intersections of the city. The vehicles entering the city are also being checked, he added. While the cars to be used by Governor, Chief Minister and Speaker would be allowed inside the Assembly campus on Monday other cars of their fleets would be parked outside, as per the plan firmed up in view of President’s engagement in the Assembly. The cars of Governor and Chief Minister will be parts of the President’s fleet as they would accompany the President from GTC helipad via Governor’s House to Vidhan Sabha, it is learnt.
