Traffic advisory fails to lessen morning ordeal

Published on:

Anti-encroachment drive launched on Thursday continued on Friday resulting in traffic jams on various roads in the city. Though the police had drafted a traffic plan to spare the commuters inconvenience on the roads it seemed to have come to no avail with vehicles remaining stuck in serpentine snarls for hours. Vehicles moved at a snail’s pace at many places. The ordeal that started in the morning continued till evening.

The police diverted traffic routes at Tehsil, Gandhi Road and some other places when  the drive was being conducted at Darhsan lal in the city.

At many of the important crossings across the city, vehicles were found stuck bumper to bumper, leaving the commuters in the lurch. Among the worst affected areas were Survey Chowk, Darshan lal Chowk, Dilaram Chowk, and Clock Tower, Prince Chowk, Araghar, EC Road, Court road, MKP Chowk, Saharanpur Chowk and Tibetan Market area.
