While the State Government continues to plan and execute measures for expanding tourism activities in Uttarakhand, the reported employment of a lady receptionist at the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) new tourist bungalow in Joshimath is fuelling discontent among the locals especially the youth.
The lady receptionist in question is reportedly the daughter of the tourist bungalow’s manager and has not been seen at her posting for quite some time with her father reportedly filling in her attendance.
locals in Joshimath point out that there is no dearth of unemployed diploma and degree holders in the area searching for jobs. On the other hand, there are cases wherein persons with ‘links’ are enjoying the perks of a job even while remaining absent from their designated post. One such case is being reported from the GMVN’s new tourist bungalow in Joshimath.

What is more questionable is that the official’s daughter has been ‘employed’ for quite some time but the blatant anomaly doesn’t appear to have been noticed. Former ward member of Joshimath municipal council, lakshmi lal Shah said that at a time when many diploma holders remain unemployed, there are some persons — as in this case — who are being paid from the public exchequer even though they are not present their job. Government should institute a high level inquiry into this case, stressed Shah.
