Absence of State Tourism Minister and MlA from Ramnagar Amrita Rawat from the World Tourism Day programme organised in her constituency here on Friday, came as a disappointing experience for people, particularly for her supporters.
Her supporters were of the view that they knew that being a public figure, the State Tourism Minister might have some other important assignments to fulfill. "But had she been here, her presence would have come as a moral boosting experience for us on this occasion of the World Tourism Day," said Bishan Bisht, a native of Ramnagar who had come to attend the programme.
"Her presence was very much on the expected lines. In fact she was supposed to inaugurate the programme on World Tourism Day, but we don't know why she had to change her schedule," he added Similarly, many representatives from hotel, tour and travel industry also expressed similar concerns. They had come to attend the programme, hoping that perhaps the State Tourism Minister might announce some schemes for the tourism sector on this important occasion. "However, it could not happen," said Shyam Singh, a tour operator from Kotabag.
"However, we are hopeful that the Government would announce some schemes to boost the tourism sector in the times to come," he added. Though the State Tourism Minister could not attend the programme here on Friday, her husband and Garhwal MP Satpal Maharaj attended the programme and shared his thoughts with the public on the occasion. The minister is believed to have gone to Delhi.
