Cold waves resulting in sharp low in atmospheric temperature over past one week, continued to hit normal life here in Utarkhand
Foggy conditions engulfing the terai region have only added to the woes of the citizens. Though different schools have announced holidays, keeping in view the cold conditions, office-goers and occasional visitors have been facing a tough time as the thick blanket of fog continued to engulf different parts of the region throughout the day.
These foggy conditions have not only led to sharp decrease in atmospheric temperature but also reduced visibility resulting in disruption in mobility. As the motorists have maintained, it is quite difficult to drive vehicles during morning hours. Cases of a stray cases of road accidents during the past few days as reported from different parts of the region only confirm this belief.
As has been experienced the atmospheric conditions coupled with thick fog may only worsen vehicular movements ahead during the peak winter season ahead. However, the farmers of these regions have expressed concern over poor level of rainfall so far this winter. They are of the view of that rainfall is the need of the hours for the crops.But there is no rainfall since monsoon season, they added.
