In order to boost the morale of children studying in the Government and private high schools and inter colleges in the remote areas of Dharchula and Munsyari, the Dharchula-Munsyari Nagrik Samiti (DMNS) has decided to felicitate the students who top their schools in the board examinations. While submitting a letter to this effect to the chief education officer of Pithoragarh district, the DMNS has also exhorted students preparing for their board examination to work hard not only to score good marks but also to be felicitated for their effort.

Stating that the committee had submitted a letter to the chief education officer and sought departmental cooperation for its endeavour, the DMNS head Jagat Martoliya said that the committee had decided to felicitate the board toppers in Dharchula and Munsyari to motivate the students studying in these geographically tough terrains to achieve the levels attained by students studying in accessible areas with various conveniences. “We will felicitate the board toppers in government and private high schools and inter colleges in Dharchula and Munsyari. A girl and boy topper will be selected from each school based on the report of the school principal. We have also written to the principals of all the schools in this regard,” he said.

The committee head pointed out that schools in Dharchula and Munsyari are facing a severe shortage of teachers for major subjects like Science, Mathematics and English. In spite of this, the students from these areas have been making it to the State merit list through their hard work. He said that the announcement regarding felicitation of boys and girls topping the boards is being made before the board examination to encourage healthy competition among the students. A fortnight after the board examination results are announced, a function will be held at the Dharchula and Munsyari Tehsil headquarters to felicitate the toppers, he added.
