Following infighting on Monday night, a tigeress was found dead in the Dhela range of Corbett National Park on Tuesday. The Van Gujjar community members near the place where the big cat was found dead, had made noise in an attempt to break the fight on Monday night in vain. The body of the tigress was discovered by forest department staff at about 7 am on Tuesday. Considering that the other tiger involved in the struggle might be injured too, the department staff began search for the big cat on foot and elephant back.

The Ramnagar divisional forest officer Neha Verma reached the site, examined it and also issues directions for conducting the post mortem of the body. The Kalagarh sub divisional officer RK Tiwari informed that department staff on patrol discovered the body of the tigress in the southern beat of Dhela range. He further informed that in the wee hours on Monday, the people living near the area had been hearing noises of the two tigers fighting. The veterinarians who conducted the post mortem opined that the tigress is believed to have died due to serious wounds on the neck, chest and belly sustained in a fight with another big cat. While filling report, the department staff was searching for the other tiger involved in the fight.
