Tigress' carcass found in Sajanpur Peeli beat

Carcass of a tigress about two-years-old was found  in Sajanpur Peeli beat of the Haridwar forest division on Thursday morning. The forest officers said that they are investigating how the young tigress died. However, they hinted that  the feline might have died following a territorial fight. The carcass has been sent for post mortem and the exact cause of death would be known on receipt of the report, said the forest officers.

Upon receiving the information, a forest department team from Haridwar forest division headed by Haridwar divisional forest officer Akash Verma reached the site. They said that wounds found on the body of the big cat indicated that the death resulted from internal conflict among the felines.

“We are, however, waiting for the post-mortem report to come to confirm the exact cause of the death,” said a forest officer who was a member of the forest team.

When quizzed over the recovery of the carcass of the big cat, DFO Akash Verma said that the dead tigress was spotted at a place under Peeli beat of Haridwar forest division under  the Shyampur police station limit by a forest team which was on patrolling duty. “The dead female tiger was about two years old,” he added.
