Thukral demands Y category security

Rudrapur MlA Rajkumar Thukral on Friday demanded Y category status for his personal security.

Raised the issue under 65 of Vidhan Sabha proceeding at the end of the Assembly Session here, Thukral alleged that despite the Chief Minister's approval to give him security on June 6, 2014, the police department had done nothing so far. Instead of strengthening his security they (police) had withdrew one personal security officer (PSO) for reasons known to them.

To buttress his claim, Thukral said that persona non-grata in the eyes of law were roaming around under security cover while public representatives were getting nothing.

When Kichha MlA Rajesh Shukla raised the same issue  PAM Indira Hridayesh intervened, saying such  criminals enjoying security must be named. Both the MlAs asserted the same but did not name anyone. This spawned gossip over the clout the criminals were enjoying to stop the MlAs to come out with their names.

later, PAM said that as the portfolio comes under the Chief Minister she would first consult him before commenting. Unhappy, Thukral squatted in the well of the House and said he would not leave unless and until the Government provided him with Y category security. later, MlA Surendra Singh Jeena came into the well and convinced him to get back to his seat. Meanwhile, the Speaker instructed the Government to provide him with security. Thukral thanked the Speaker.
