As the devastation spawned by the heavy rains continued, two bodies have been recovered by the Jal Police on Monday. The victims had slipped into a fast-moving drain in Jamalpur Khurd under Ranipur jurisdiction on Sunday evening. They were missing. However, another youth was saved by the villagers. The bodies were sent to the district hospital for autopsy
It is learnt that the three youths hailing from Pauri village were employed in Vardhman factory under the SIDCUl area. While returning from their work on Sunday, they slipped in the drain near their village. While Yogesh was saved by one of the villagers Sonu, his uncle Parvinder, 35, and friend Deepak, 25 were swept away.
Speaking to The Pioneer, CO Sadar JP Juyal said, “We have recovered two bodies when the water receded in the fields on Monday. The bodies have been sent for autopsy. They would be handed over to the relatives after post-mortem.” Recounting his horrible terrific experience, Yogesh said, “The three of us were returning from factory when we slipped in the drain. I got stuck in bushes, but my uncle and friend drowned. Someone saved me but I do not remember anything as I fell unconscious.” The villagers have slammed the district administration and the disaster management team for the mismanagement and delay in response, resulting in the deaths. Sonu said, “Ten minutes before the drain broke we informed the police and the district administration, but the team reached after two and a half hours. When they finally arrived all was finished.”
