Three Nepali workers murdered

Three Nepali origin labourers were found brutally murdered at a remote village in the border district of Pithoragarh on the weekend. The genitals of the men were also cut. The triple murders were reportedly carried out on Friday night but came to light on Saturday. The murders have shocked the locals in this village located about five kilometres from the district headquarters with the general suspicion being that the men were killed in revenge.

According to information received, a woman in the Mud Dhura was going to cut fodder in the woods on Saturday morning. Before going to the woods, she came to the home where the Nepali labourers lived, in order to sharpen her sickle. She called out to the occupants but no one replied. When she went in the home ,she saw the bloodied body of a man.

The woman screamed in alarm and informed the villagers about her discovery. The villagers then informed the police. After the police reached the village, they found the body the woman had spotted. They came across one locked room and on opening it they found two more mutilated bodies of men in the room.

The dead have been identified as Kashi Bora, Harish Bora and Bira Bora—all of them of Nepali origin who were working in this area as labourers.

After what was earlier being thought of as the murder of one man turned out to be a triple murder, the police dog squad also reached the scene of crime along with the forensics team.

The police are investigating all aspects of this gruesome crime. The superintendent of police, RC Rajguru said that the police hope to soon solve this case.

He said that while one body was found in one room, the bodies of the two other men were found in another room. Stating that the police did not have concrete knowledge about the murderer or the reason for the murders, the superintendent of police said that the police would be able to solve this case soon. Harish and Bira are brothers. Harish’s wife has been missing from home.

The police are also checking if an illicit affair could be reason behind the murders.

The police have not found the sharp weapon used to kill the trio and cut their genitals. The police are reluctant to state anything specific about this case at present.

However, the guard has been stepped up at the border with Nepal considering the possibility of the culprits escaping to Nepal if they haven’t done so already.
