The lawyers of Dehradun Bar Association boycotted works in court campus on Tuesday. The association has convened three-day strike which began from Tuesday in support of their demands that include speedy disposal of litigation. Works at the court were adversely affected following the strike. Those who reached the court for their works returned disappointed.
On Saturday, a meeting was held in Haridwar and advocates of various districts of the state participated. It was decided that they would carry out the strike for three days from Tuesday, demanding overhaul of the prevailing judicial system. We are of the opinion that litigants are not getting justice on time, said Anil Gandhi, DBA secretary. Another demand is to enable the advocates to practice in courts of other states, he added. Justice delivery system is proving tardy, given the flawed mechanism and the common man is at the receiving end of things. The system must be made more people friendly, he demanded.
