Threat to gherao Rawat to press demand for CBI probe into disaster, liquor scam

Stepping up BJP’s movement to force the  State Government to recommend a CBI probe into the RTI-triggered disaster scam and liquor sting that raised ripples across the State, putting the State Government’s integrity under a cloud, MlA from Gadarpur Assembly constituency in Udham Singh Nagar, Arvind Pandey has threatened to gherao Chief Minister Harish Rawat on his proposed visit to Udham Singh Nagar’s Barah area on August 20.

“When Madhya Pradesh CM could have asked for a CBI probe into Vyapam scam and Narendra Modi when he was Gujarat’s Chief Minister could  have gone for the same vis-a-vis the Godhra case, it is amazing that the Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat is singularly reluctant to go for the CBI probe into the disaster and others scams  that are bedeviling  the state,” he said, adding  that he would gheroa CM when he would visit Udham Singh Nagar’s Barah area on Thursday.

“We have recently met the Governor, demanding a CBI probe into the strings of alleged grafts. But instead of taking steps to curb corruptions, the State Government is registering  fabricated cases against BJP workers,” alleged the MlA from Gadarpur.

“We would ventilate  the people’s anger through stir  whenever CM visits Udham Singh Nagar in the coming days,” he warned.

Notably, state BJP and its youth wing Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) have announced its programmes to gehrao the Chief Minister during his public meetings across the state, citing CM’s refusal to  have disaster and liquor scams  probed by CBI.

The BJYM had decided to gherao CM during his proposed Haldwani trip slated for Monday. However, the stir did not materialise after CM cancelled his Haldwani trip.
