Noted writers and other prominent personalities will be attending the Kumaon Festival of Literature and Art to be held in Nainital. Director of the festival Janhavi Prasada informed the media about the two-day festival to be held here from October 5.
Addressing the media, she said that the president of the Tibetan government in exile, Lobsang Sangay, noted writers Shobha De and Mrinal Pandey among others will be attending the third Kumaon Festival of Literature and Art. During the two-day event, writers will express their views on the specialties and heritage of the Kumaon region through literature. In addition to cultural presentations, a programme will also be held on wildlife conservation and prevention of environmental damage. Efforts will also be made to involve youngsters in educational institutions and encourage their interest in literature, considering the diminishing interest of the youth in literature, she said.
A photography exhibition of black and white photographs will also be held as part of the festival this year. Writers including Stephen Alter, Sadia Dehlvi, Saif Mohammed, Arman Ali Dehlvi and Kiran Sandhu among others will also be participating in the two-day literature and art festival.
