There's more than what meets eyes

When finger of suspicion being pointed at the political leaders of the ruling party from the day one in the Ramnagar immolation bid case in which the victim had breathed his last at a hospital in Delhi on Monday night, there is more to the casualty of a youth at the altar of political ambitions of someone else than what meets the eyes.

Since those who are blamed by none other than activists of the NSUI and youth Congress for this ghastly incident, are reported to be close to Chief Minister Harish Rawat, so the State Government cannot shrug off its responsibility in this case merely by removing a few officials. Although State Government has marked CB CID enquiry, BJP demanding CBI enquiry.

The fact of the matter is that the Nainital district police has already registered a case against Sanjay Negi, a Congress leader and Ramnagar block pramukh under different sections for provoking deceased Rohit Pandey, for immolating himself, so the people in the region have strongly criticised the State Government for merely taking action against local Nainital district administration and the police officials concerned in this case.

This incident has only brought political rivalry between Sanjay Negi and former Congress MlA from Salt Ranjeet Rawat, to the open as of both of them are preparing their ground to contest State Assembly election from the Ramnagar Assembly segment, as many party leaders here said.

“We want a judicial probe into this matter. Because this entire incident has turned out to a case of political rivalry and blame game among the ruling party leaders,” said Prabhat Dhyani, a Ramnagar-based social activist and general secretary of the Uttarakhand Parivartan Party (UPP), while talking to The Pioneer.

The most astonishing fact here is that the Congress leaders who are reported to be involved in this incident are reported to be close to the Chief Minister. Therefore, we are demanding a judicial probe into this case, he added.Similar concerns have been expressed here by many others here.

They are of the view that since Government has taken action against the officials concerned, the political leadership of the state Congress party and for that matter the State Government is silent on the involvement of their party activists like Sanjay Negi whose name was as the media reports have suggested,  also found  involved in the Kaladhungi incident of August  2009 in which a BJP leader was shot dead and in the aftermath of that case the Kaladhungi police station was also put to flame killing a police personnel on duty in this case.
