There might be respite again across State: Met

Published on:

With humidity-tinged hot climate having returned to Dehradun and other parts of the State following Friday’s thunderstorm which barrelled through a large swathe of the state in the evening, there might be a respite again as the weather department forecast thunder squall and rain lashing at several districts of the State, including Dehradun, on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Met department said that the squall might sweep over some parts of the districts like Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar with a speed reaching to 70 to 80 kms per hour on two days. The sky would remain partly to generally cloudy in some parts of the state on Tuesday, the weather officers said, adding that rain/thunderstorm is likely to lash some areas, particularly in the hills of Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Bageswhar, Pithoragarh  and Rudraprayag districts.

Meanwhile, the residents of Dehradun grappled with another day of suffering as the high volume of humidity in the atmosphere further compounded the summer woes on Monday. The sky would be partly cloudy and there is a likelihood of thunder cloud development in some parts of the district on Tuesday.

Though a normal monsoon is said to be in store for Uttarakhand this year it is still uncertain when the monsoon would set in the State.

The weather officials said they are not yet in a position to say when the monsoon would finally move in the State.

The monsoon generally arrives in the state in the last week of June, they said, adding that in some years it arrives as early as June 15.
